Seraphim O'Keefe

Iconographer-In-Residence

Seraphim grew up in a family of artists, and after High School went to study classical art as an apprentice in the Republic of Georgia. While there, he became a Christian, and was Baptized at age of 19. Seraphim spent some time in a monastery where he began to learn the ancient art of Christian Iconography.  Around 2010, Seraphim married his wife Ilaria and gradually moved into full time work painting murals for churches. Seraphim, Ilaria and their four kids live in Greenville, where Seraphim has undertaken the iconography project of St John of the Ladder, a project that will take about a decade to complete. In Seraphim’s words, “I hope that this project, including the beautiful architecture and landscaping, will be an important legacy for this area, and a witness to the Gospel for everyone who comes to see it.”
